Hello! I am Ms. Cheri Hennig . I love to read or listen to audio books, especially in my hammock, do research on interesting topics for school, and take classes or go to workshops/seminars to keep me up to date on great things for school. I also love to take walks, spend time up North, and be with my friends, neighbors and family.
Education, Experience, Goals and Personal Mission
In 1989 I earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Eastern Michigan University in Early Childhood Education. While I earned my degree I worked with infants and toddlers in Sterling Heights (where I grew up) and ran summer camps, before and after school programs, and taught Preschool in Ypsilanti. I became a Lead Teacher and began officially teaching Kindergarten and Preschool in 1989, and ran Kindergarten through Second grade programs in a private school. Taking a short break from teaching in a private school to accommodate my son's school needs, I was the Director and Head Teacher at a preschool in Clinton for two years while I earned a Master of Arts in Early Childhood Education and was then hired by Onsted Community Schools in the fall of 2000.
Grades I have taught in Onsted include Kindergarten Prep, Kindergarten, Developmental First, First, Third, and Fourth Grades. I have also worked in the Media Center, the PTO Computer Lab, and now I split my time in the K-2 STEAM+ Lab and the the computer Lab with Kindergarten through Second Grades. My passion is motivating students to pursue their own learning and supporting teachers in best teaching practices, finding and utilizing resources, and working with families to help in making school to home connections. During my time in Onsted I have completed a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction and I have recently completed a Masters in Educational Leadership to support my passion for leading, personal growth and helping others learn.
